The World Expo 2010 Shanghai, China opened on May 1, 2010. For six months, until October 31, 192 countries, 51 cities and international organizations will showcase to the whole world the latest achievements in science and technology. The theme of the Expo is Better City, Better Life and each participant will present its model of the ideal city and its best urban practices; many of these models will be implemented all over the world after the closing of the Expo.
The Republic of Moldova is taking part in a World Expo for the second time. Every day the stand of our country welcomes thousands of visitors. The slogan of the Moldovan stand – My City Is Your City – reflects the desire to create a better city, a city in which everyone will thrive. The slogan reflects the hospitality of Moldovan people and their openness to cooperation in all fields – culture, science and business.
The conceptual and architectural ax of the stand is the inverted pyramid, representing the idea of development and symbolizing a fruitful tree. The visitors will have the opportunity to follow the history of the city development – the tours starts in the area of the Old Town, reflecting the rich spiritual and historic heritage of the city and of the country, and ends in the area of the Modern City in full and permanent development, but with a minimal damage for the environment. The visitors will also get acquainted with the Underground City – the famous wine cellars of Moldova with their unique collections of exquisite wines. In this area the guests can visit the Crama/Cafeteria where they will be warmly welcomed by the hosts and served best Moldovan wines and traditional Moldovan food.
